This book documents the results of a year long enquiry into the concept of urban resilience by Diploma Students from the Mackintosh School of Architecture (Bethany Houlihan, Joyce Yazbeck, David Galt and Jinbu Jun).
Edited by Brian Evans, the document contains a comparative urban analysis of Glasgow and Pittsburgh with chapters devoted to: an examination of the ecological, social and economic underpinning of urban resilience as a process in urban planning; an analysis of the two cities; and specific enquiries into the opportunities for urban reliance presented through flood management, adequate housing, adaptive reuse of buildings and community spirit.
