Abstract:

Contemporary jewellery piece fabricated with a hand-forged iron nail salvaged from the Mackintosh Building following the 2014 fire.

This piece was made considering the power of a humble utilitarian object, a single nail used in the fabrication of this iconic building.
Elevating this relic to a wearable, valued art object realises its potential to represent this monumental moment in time- without the fire it would never have been revealed.

This piece was auctioned at a fund raising event in New York in 2016.
