This research and artwork was commissioned by Koppe Astner Gallery, Glasgow to be included in the group exhibition The Ultimate Vessel. Artists were invited to design a vessel as a container for flowers, whilst reflecting the cultural and historical signification of flower arrangements.
Through a combination of 3D printing, vector controlled laser cutting and design, Double Agency is intended to resemble cremation plaques and flower memorials, whilst tracing the destabilizing effects of 3D reproduction technology on indexicality. In particular this research investigates Roland Barthes' reflection on photography's embodiment of the 'catastrophe of death.' ''Time's immobilisation assumes only an excessive, monstrous mode: Time is engorged...'.
