Dévider le réel.
Les Abattoirs, Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Toulouse,
18 September 2015 to 17th January 2016
[Show/Exhibition]
Borrowing its title from an essay by the art critic Michel Tapie in 1952, this presentation suggests a continuation between art and reality. Unwinding reality, it is not emptying it to exhaust it, but unwinding it, getting ahead of it and running after it to account for its intensity. The twenty works in the exhibition resonate with our relationship to time, current events and history. They point out the writing of intimate stories whose resonance are collective, inventing unusual but surprisingly familiar shapes and placing their viewers into a situation of indecision as to what we should commonly call 'real'. Artists include Louise Hopkins, Mathias Bruggmann, Valerie Snobeck.
