This work in progress model explores the continuing evolution of Sauchiehall Street’s frontage, architecture, and typologies. It aims to prompt dialogue around the loss of the historical vernacular streetscape and ask whether its reconstruction would be a valuable and meaningful contemporary intervention. The model helps channel discussion, critique and evaluation of the many proposals that are emerging for the redevelopment of this important street and cushion against the unnecessary consequences of prior interventions around its orbit.
