Biography

I am the author of three books, Scanned Clean: (Re)Reading the Novels of Michael Marshall Smith in the Digital Age (Subterranean Press, 2022) and The OA, a critical study of the Netflix Originals TV series (Auteur/LUP, 2022), and The Films of Nicolas Winding Refn: Genre, Gender, Glamour (LUP, 2024). I am currently working on a monograph about the film director Ben Wheatley for Palgrave Macmillan.
I have contributed chapters to the books on the directors David Lynch and Mike Leigh and the publisher Marvel Comics as well as article to journal issues on Folk Horror, Lynch and Marvel.
I have presented conference papers in the UK, US and Canada on various aspects of popular culture including digital comic books; set design in the tv series Inside No. 9; superhero costume design; Folk Horror, mysticism and environmentalism; digital broadcasting and National Theatre Live; and Augmented Reality Games and the TV series Hellier.
