This Q&A presentation by Fraser Taylor and Helena Britt was part of the Liberty Lates series, which accompanied the exhibition 'Liberty Art Fabrics & Fashion' at the Dovecot Studios.

The presentation outlined Taylor's work as a printed textiles student at Glasgow School of Art (GSA) and then the Royal College of Art (RCA). In 1983, Taylor and fellow RCA students, David Band, Brian Bolger and Helen Manning, formed The Cloth, a design studio. This collective was an overnight success and produced a prolific array of creative outputs. During the early 1980s, The Cloth worked with Liberty creating textile designs, window displays and showing The Cloth collections. Examples of this collaboration were discussed. The Cloth disbanded after 4 years. Taylor gave an overview of his work since The Cloth as an interdisciplinary practitioner, working with a range of media including drawing, painting, textiles, sculpture, printmaking and animation.

The presentation featured images of items now held by GSA’s Archives and Collections donated by Taylor and photographs of Taylor’s creative practice since The Cloth.
