New work series for forthcoming exhibition Bloomin' Jewels.

Initial research included a handling session at the Museum of London and examining key historical pieces was inspiring and ties in with my research interests based around traditional goldsmithing practices and methods that date back many centuries. My specialist area of jewellery practice is working in precious metals, creating new innovative work predominantly in gold so this knowledge and new techniques are being applied to a new collection of work that emulates the perfection and repetition within nature and investigations into patterns such as fibonacci sequences are at the forefront of my new work.

"Floral motifs have long inspired jewellers; indeed since the first of man’s ancestors used a bloom for self-adornment, botanical motifs have been a key feature of jewellery designs.

Bloomin’ Jewels explores how botanical forms can also be a powerful reference point for contemporary jewellers, working in both precious and non-precious media. A showcase of wearable art, it spotlights cutting-edge, imaginative and technically accomplished modern work whilst celebrating the long and esteemed tradition of depicting flowers and foliage in jewellery.

This exhibition at Contemporary Applied Arts in Bankside has been guest curated by Corinne Julius, a journalist and acknowledged authority on contemporary jewellery, and features over 20 respected contemporary jewellers.
