Digital Dialogues Performances by Heather Forknell, Alice Theobald, Maud Traon, Jontahan Boyd & Euan McKenzie and Marvin Gaye Chetwynd.
A collaboration and performance between Jonathan Boyd and the digital artist Euan McKenzie. The performance looked to combine and explore the differences and possibilities by merging digital and applied craft.
As makers Jonathan and Euan have long been interested in the intention of mark making and how content and thought can be translated though the way we approach the fabrication of a sculpture or an object or the way you draw a line either with pen or digitally using vectors.
Jonathan and Euan will look to examine and explore this relationship to line and mark making and in doing his create two sculptural forms that intact with digital image and line making. Jonathan and Euan will each make an artefact/sculpture before handing it over to the other who will create a digital form or performance that will complete and tie-in with the work. By doing this they aim to create work that questions and engages an audience around the boundaries of the digital, art, design and craft. In looking at the process of mark making and the ability to communicate through quality of line they hope to also hold a mirror to the work of Baselitz and his communication through art.
The performance was one of many that took at Leicester New Walk Museum.
Jonathan Boyd and Euan McKenzie: EXPERIMENTS 1-4
Using mark-making as a starting point, 4 personal environments look to explore the relationships between the real, the digital and our sense of perception. Jonathan and Euan have used these environments to experiment not only with their own practice but the boundaries between them.
