Abstract:

Uneasy Balance explores and celebrates the process of designing and making the new building by Steven Holl architects opposite Charles Rennie Mackintosh's masterpiece, The Glasgow School of Art. A series of essays by invited contributors consider aspects of the two buildings, their relationship to each other as urban artefacts and the influence of one on the other's architectural conception. An interview with the architects explores their inspiration and their approach to architectural design.
