| Abstract: | Commissioned text for booklet printed by The Modern Institute, Glasgow, for the exhibition, Thomas Houseago, One Beautiful Day, The Modern Institute, 3 Airds Lane, 25 November 2023 - 20 January 2024. Text was written in 3 sections: Dawn, Dusk and Owl Coda Text addresses materiality of painting and sculpture in response to a body of new landscape paintings and sculptural work - referred to as 'visions' by artist Thomas Houseago and which were developed following a mental health crisis in the US. The writing interweaves close description of individual paintings and sculptures with elliptical references to debates in contemporary eco-criticism, post-humanism, plant-thinking, entanglement and ecology. |
