“Escape from the Guts of the Dragon: The Player’s Handbook:
Book Publication, ISBN: 9789490500153, Published by Flanders State of the Arts and a-pass (Advanced Performance and Scenography Studies), Madrid 2020
This is a collaborative project with Dancer, Pablo Esbert Lilienfeld, and Performance Artist, Federicio Vladimir Strate Pezdirc.
The book describes the rules of a fantasy role-playing game: Draconis Lacrimae. Both Pablo and Federico are performance artists with an interest in fantasy gaming worlds. The book documents their performances and my contribution to the artwork was in the form of ‘Sound Talismans’. These are a kind of ‘amulet’, worn by the dancers, around the waist, during the performance. The purpose of the amulets, which are very common in gaming scenarios, is to produce sound, and to create sonic effects that complement the narrative. The final pieces are made up of stereo speakers mounted in 3-D printed, crystalised, futuristic, frames. The materials are all made from biodegradable 3-D printed filament, which is completely sustainable. The project was initiated by Pablo Esbert Lilienfeld and Federico Vladimir Strate Pezdiric to tell the story of their relationship, and in particular the experiences of Federico who is currently living with an HIV-Positive diagnosis. Escape from the Guts of the Dragon encapsulates a coming together of performance, decorative arts, music, and digital technologies.”
