This presentation informed the Scottish Government and MSP Ms Jenni Minto of activities and planned research I was developing as part of a future of healthcare beyond clinical settings concept. It is being formally developed as part of a funding application in conjunction with Scottish Government and Moray Health & Social Care Partnership. This new perspective 'The future of primary care in Moray 2048 – a vision for the NHS 100th anniversary' encompasses a kinetic chain approach to future health envisioned through a lifecourse approach that encourages self-management and pathways to empower and enhance quality of life and enhance the experience of working by healthcare professionals. It anticipates collaboration and participatory design workshops that involve designers, professionals and citizens.
The ambition is that by delivering innovative pathways to the future of healthcare in a remote and rural setting, this successfully, it can be exemplified Nationally and Internationally.
A future of healthcare beyond clinical settings conceptualises – Breathe, Eat, Sleep, Move & GROW! that becomes a kinetic chain of health experienced in a region at intuitive touchpoints we encounter throughout our daily life, e.g., supermarket, library, Post Office, bus stop workplace, and leisure centre.
We know that none of these elements, work without the other e.g., if we don’t breathe; we die, if we don’t eat; we die...etc., hence the kinetic chain of health becomes a public health approach similar to the body and its own biomechanics and kinetic chain.
We need a whole systems innovation to optimise health management & care. The Moray Leisure Centre is currently a traditional 20th Century Leisure Centre (MLC), I incepted this approach and developed funding plans presented to Moray council in 2023 and this project is now being further developed with other partnerships and teams.
