Abstract:

Presentation to the 43rd International Congress of the European Showman's Union in Edinburgh. I presented a paper on Intangible Cultural Heritage (in particular, the ramifications of the UK signing up to the UNESCO Convention for Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2023 (https://ich.unesco.org/en/lists) and its significance for the survival of Scottish fairgrounds and the culture that sustains them. We also launched our new piece of research, the Red List of Lost and Endangered Fairs at the event.
